Sonography

Sonography is an imaging technique which is used for diagnostic purpose. High-frequency sound waves penetrate into the patient’s body. This produces a clear visual of tissues and organs inside the human body. Sonography is advisable in problems of breasts, abdomen, male and female reproductive organs, blood vessels and heart.

Reasons for sonography

Process of sonography

An ultrasound transducer is used for examination. It is a device that converts bounced sound waves to echoes. The hence produced echoes are directed to an ultrasound machine where they are processed to produce illustrations.

Results of sonography

Sonography lets a doctor view problems within vessels, organs, and tissues. It helps the doctor to assess the degree of ailments precisely. The ultrasound scan isn’t 100 percent accurate. But, the benefits of this test are that it’s painless, non-invasive, and absolutely benign for both mother and unborn baby.

Ultrasound machines produce the extra precise study. As sound waves (rather than radiation) are used in an ultrasound, the risk is negligible. Thus, it is safe for examining fetal growth in pregnant women.

There has been no sign that shows ultrasound imaging can be injurious to a fetus till now. But, enduring risks cannot be ruled out by the physicians.
