What are fertility enhancing surgeries?
Surgeries that help to enhance or restore fertility in women with infertility complications. Many infertility complications like fibroids, endometriosis, dermoid, adhesions, PCOD, etc affect the fertility in a woman.
These surgeries and procedures are used to correct such infertility issues in women.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is an advanced surgical minimally invasive procedure that is used for diagnosing and correcting various complications. A thin tube, called the laparoscope, with a light and camera on top, is inserted through a small incision made on the abdomen.
Hysteroscopy-
A Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure to examine the shape of the uterine lining and cavity. Hysteroscopy procedure is done using a thin viewing tool known as hysteroscope to look at the lining of the uterus. The hysteroscope has a light and a camera attached to it, through which the doctor can see the uterus lining on the video screen.
During this procedure, the tip of the hysteroscope is inserted into the vagina and moved to the uterus through the cervix.
Through Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy, surgeons can diagnose and treat various infertility problems like:
- Ovarian cysts
- Adhesions
- Fibroids
- Pcos
- Blocked fallopian tubes
Amongst the treatment surgeries available are hysteroscopy and laproscopy. Through the surgeries and prior tests, the doctors are able to find out the exact cause of infertility. The cause of infertility may also include reversal of tubes, fibroids, polyps and others. These can be treated with the help of surgery.
